Polls Will Open at 6 AM For East Haddam Referendum

At Wednesday night's Special Town Meeting, East Haddam residents voted in favor of opening the referendum polls up at 6 AM. They also passed 8 either items that were on the agenda for the evening, including the merging of two East Haddam Libraries.

East Haddam residents met in Grange Hall Wednesday night to vote on 9 items and passed all of them at a Special Town Meeting. In addition to recommending the budget, those who attended voted to extend voting hours for the referendum. Polls will now open at Grange Hall at 6 AM and close at 8 PM on Thursday, June 27.

Those who attended also voted to accept the STEAP grant for East Haddam's Center for Community Agriculture Project, as well as a grant from the Consumers Union of United States to construct a timber framed garden shed for the Center as well. 

Voters also unanimously accepted a grant in the amount of $2,681.00 from the Connecticut Humanities Council, Incorporated, for the “Sherlock Holmes Radio Play at Gillette Castle State Park.

Item 6 on the voters agenda was to consider and act upon the recommendation to merge the Rathbun Free Memorial Library and the East Haddam Free Public Library to create the East Haddam Public Library, which voters also passed unanimously.
