Man Pleads Guilty To Killingworth Bank Robbery; Faces 20 Years in Jail

Marcus Dwyer, the third person arrested in connection to the TD Bank robbery last August, admitted on Monday in federal court to the crime.

The third and final person charged in the armed robbery of a Killingworth Bank in August 2012 has pleaded guilty.

Marcus Dwyer, 40, of New Haven, now faces 20 years in prison and a fine up to $250,000 after admitting in New Haven federal court on Monday his role in the robbery of the TD Bank branch on Route 81 in Killingworth

Two others involved in the case, accomplice Dario Pabey of Waterbury and getaway driver Jennifer Jacques, of Westbrook, have also pleaded guilty in the case, according to a Justice Department press release.

Wearing masks and brandishing handguns, Dwyer and Dario Pabey entered the bank during the afternoon on Aug. 6 and demanded both patrons and employees to lie on the floor. They proceeded to the tie up both customers and employees with Zip ties, while in the process stealing customers’ wallets, mobile phones and car keys, officials said.

Dwyer was responsible for ordering the bank employees to open the vault allowing for the culprits to make off with $43,573 in cash, officials said.

The pair then fled the bank before the state police could arrive, entering a customer’s white Scion that Jacques took from the scene, officials said. They then abandoned the car on a nearby dirt road.

All three suspects were arrested last fall.

Dwyer is scheduled for sentencing on Aug. 20 in New Haven. He’s been in police custody since his arrest last September. Pabey is due for sentencing on May 24. There is no sentencing date yet for Jacques.
