Spirits of Higganum Historic House Tour Teaser

The Federal/Greek Revival style David C. Hubbard House which was built in 1825. Hubbard was a shipbuilder and master carpenter who worked for both the Huntington and Childs shipyards on the Landing. Later owners included both the Freeman Family who operated the local brickyard and the Childs Family. The house which had been converted to a two family home in the early 20th century has been lovingly restored by its present owners. One of the more interesting mysteries of the house is the “footprint” in the upstairs fireplace, a possible remnant of David Hubbard whose presence is felt in the house. A few of the many interesting pieces on display include a large Chinese screen brought back to the United States in 1912 by the governess of the United States Ambassador and great aunt of the current owner and a delightful fully furnished dollhouse enjoyed by at least four generations of the family.
