Saturday, June 15 brings with it the celebration of the Swing Bridge's 100 years. We've attached the full program for details!

The day begins with a historic bridge crossing at 9:00am as the Moodus Drum & Fife Corps leads antique autos from Haddam’s Eagle Landing State Park to a centennial commemoration ceremony at the East Haddam Town Office area (7 Main Street).

The East Haddam Swing Bridge was officially opened on Flag Day in 1913, with a community celebration that included a band concert, an automobile parade, addresses by state and local officials, and a commemoration of the life of Nathan Hale, the Revolutionary hero who taught school in East Haddam.  A century later, similar community-themed festivities will be offered by businesses and community groups on both sides of the Connecticut River.

Don't Forget Though:

If you're plans don't include attending the event, remember the area will be full of traffic and very congested. The bridge will be shut down to traffic from around 8:45 and 10:30 AM. The DOT has given permission for closure time during that time frame.
