Laurel White, Neighbor

I live in East Haddam with my husband, two daughters, 10 and 6. I am an artist, creator, cook, actress, seamstress and gardener. I worked in the medical field for more than 20 years, then I retired because of the chaos of the insurance industry. I started working privately as a<br> gardener/groundskeeper and have found the job I love! I love weeding!

I also love to read and dabble in writing for no one but myself, until this opportunity came to me. I have submitted several six-word memoirs to Smith Magazine online. It&#39;s a kind of secret interest of mine. Acting was my other secret desire.

Then two years ago, an opportunity presented itself here in town. Since then, I have performed in two 24-hour theater projects thru the Hygenic Gallery in New London, once here in town with Plays and Poetry and a theatrical reading of &#34;Days of Tears&#34; in Hartford. I have my third 24-theater gig coming up Feb 5.

I am a certified Kripalu Danskinetics instructor.  I teach an after-school program at the elementary school and have taught at several preschools, the senior center in Old Saybrook, the YMCA Woman&#39;s Wellness Weekend at Camp Hazen for five years and several teacher&#39;s workshops.

Presently, I am working with a friend to create a children&#39;s music and movement program which we will offer at The Music Bureau in Salem. So, in a nutshell, I keep busy.

I am looking forward to this writing opportunity and offering my experience and insights to other families.
