Shawn O'Connell for Board of Finance for a better Killingworth

I am honored to write this letter of support an outstanding Republican candidate for re-election to the Board of Finance, Shawn O’Connell.

Killingworth is one of the few communities in Connecticut that are in extremely sound financial condition, and Shawn, as a member of the Board of Finance, has been a major contributor to our town’s current financial health. We enjoy a low level of debt, are funding capital projects economically, and have enjoyed a stable mil rate over the past number of years. In fact Killingworth has one of the lowest mil rates of comparable towns in the state. The contributions of Shawn in achieving these goals have been invaluable, and it has been our good fortune to have Shawn serve on the Board of Finance.

Shawn possesses a thorough understanding of our community, its needs, and how to affordably meet them. He has a solid grasp of the municipal budgeting process, great attention to detail, outstanding creative and critical thinking skills and the courage to make difficult decisions.

As a community we will unfortunately be facing some extremely challenging budgetary issues over the next few years that will place greater financial pressure upon small towns such as Killingworth. Declining economic support from the State will force us to rely more and more upon our own resources to keep financially afloat. We need people on the Board of Finance with the demonstrated experience, knowledge and proven abilities to help pilot our ship through these potentially stormy waters.  Shawn O’Connell is without a doubt someone we need on our next Board of Finance. I urge Killingworth voters to join me in supporting Shawn O’Connell with your vote on November 5th.
