Meet Matt Young

My name is Matt Young, and I am honored to be running for First Selectman for the town of Killingworth. 

Killingworth is a wonderful place. My wife Jeannie and I moved here to raise our children in the great small town environment it is known for and we instantly fell in love with this town. We have three boys enrolled in the Killingworth school system and my wife has recently been elected to the board of education, where she works to improve the quality of our school systems for your children and mine. I myself have been elected to the Zoning Board of Appeals (alt) and I do volunteer work coaching for a multi-town shoreline wrestling team. I am also the vice president and manager of a successful, locally owned roofing company. These experiences have given me a fine appreciation for the direction in which our families and our businesses are going, and like you, I understand how important it is to know when it is time to listen, and when it is time to lead.
 
It is for this reason that I’ve thrown my hat in the ring. I have seen a lot of changes happening in town, but unfortunately not all of them are for the better as it is becoming clear from many of the decisions we’ve seen that our town is going in a direction which is more appropriate for an urban area like New Haven than for a small town like Killingworth. If you believe this is the right direction our town should go, then I thank you for your time. However, if you agree with me that the small town way of life has a quality of its own, and that we need to protect it to pass down to our children, then you will agree with me that we need a voice in town government that will vow to preserve the small town way of life just as much as it will vow to preserve our roads and our schools. This is what I promise I will do, and I would appreciate your support this November.  Thank you.
