Meet Fred Dudek

Meet Fred Dudek, Republican Selectman for the Town of Killingworth

My name is Fred Dudek, and I am running for reelection to the Board of Selectmen.

It is my philosophy that to be a good public leader, one should have as many experiences as possible in different areas that serve the public.  To that end, I served four years in the United States Navy, during the Vietnam era. This allowed me to learn how to best fulfill my responsibilities to others.  I served eight years on the Board of Finance for the town of Killingworth, and I learned how to use residents’ hard earned money wisely.  I’ve serve and continue to serve the Killingworth Volunteer Fire Company for forty years, seventeen of those as Chief of the Company.  During that time, I was elected and served two terms as president of the Middlesex County Fire Chiefs Association. I served as the president of the Connecticut Fire Chiefs Association for one year during that time, and I learned how to assist people when they need assistance the most. I served and continue to serve as a State of Connecticut Enhanced 911 Commissioner at the request of previous state governors.   It is my greatest satisfaction that I am able to apply my experiences to the Board of Selectmen, where I have served the town for nine years.

To quote Abraham Lincoln, I believe that government should do for people what they cannot do for themselves, and no more.  The best form of government I feel is therefore one which minimizes its intervention into the lives of its citizens by promoting individual responsibility, initiative, and volunteerism.  I am a strong advocate for tax fairness and getting the greatest possible return of people’s tax dollars, and I seek high quality educational and municipal services at fair and reasonable costs to the community.   I have brought these values to my office for the last nine years, and I ask for your support in November to help me continue bringing these values to the town of Killingworth.  Thank you.
