Jeannie Young for RSD #17 Board of Education

Dear Killingworth Voters:

Please re-elect Jeannie Young to the Board of Education. She willingly volunteered and won a special election in February 2013 to serve on the Board of Education for a seat that was vacated mid-term. She has been an outstanding addition to the Board, in part because she understands the delicate balance of meeting the student's needs and the needs of the taxpayers.

Since her election Mrs. Young has served on two critical and time-consuming subcommittees, which are the Finance Subcommittee and the Personnel and Evaluation Subcommittee. The Board, like our republic, is part of a system of checks and balances. The Finance Committee serves as a check on the school district's operating funds and it's members serve as resources for the Director of Finance. The Personnel and Evaluation Subcommittee engages in negotiations with the Union groups and oversees personnel issues, including the evaluation of our Superintendent. Mrs. Young has demonstrated sound judgment, insight and practical common sense. She is an invaluable member of both of these committees.

Mrs. Young holds a degree from Brigham Young University in Fitness and Wellness Management, and has worked in a number of management positions. She has experience in the banking industry and has been responsible for the payroll and finances of a home-based construction materials company. She has served as president of a number of the youth organizations, and volunteers at the many events and activities at the Killingworth Elementary School.

I urge you to vote for Jeannie Young. She has and will continue to work to efficiently improve the quality of education in our school district.

Karen Perry
Regional School District 17, Board Chair
