With about a foot of snow forecast to start falling overnight, the Region 17 school district, serving Haddam and Killingworth is joining districts throughout the state in closing school on Thursday, Feb. 13.
"Region 17 Schools will be closed tomorrow, Thursday February 13, 2014, due to the inclement weather," the district says on the Home page of its website.
Snow is expected to start around 3 a.m., and last for about 24 hours, according to the National Weather Service.
In addition, Killingworth town officials have declared a parking ban on town roads starting at midnight, Wednesday to Thursday:
No parking on public roads from midnight until further notice. Also: to allow for snow removal, please make sure that trash cans are not within the roadway.
