Middlesex Community College Named 'Great College to Work For'

The Chronicle of Higher Education picked 97 schools in the country, and the Middletown-based college made the cut.

Middlesex Community College has been named one of the best colleges to work for in a survey released this week.

The Chronicle of Higher Education, a site dedicated to all things academic, selected 97 colleges and universities in the country for its 2013 "Great College to Work For" list, including Quinnipiac University, Eastern Connecticut State University and MxCC.

The list praised MxCC, which is based in Middletown but has satellite branches in Meriden and Old Saybrook, for its compensation and benefits for employees and its professional and career-development programs.

Of the 97 institutions on the list only 21 were two-year colleges — like MxCC.

The information on the list was based on responses from nearly 45,000 people at 300 institutions, the Chronicle explained in its methodology.
