Iacobelli Named Superintendent of East Haddam Schools

The school board announced this week that Interim Superintendent Mary Beth Iacobelli has been named the new superintendent of East Haddam Schools.

Mary Beth Iacobelli has served as the East Haddam School District’s interim superintendent since July 1, 2012. Before her arrival in East Haddam, she served as assistant superintendent for instructional services in the New Britain School District. Her educational experiences include serving as a teacher in both elementary and middle schools, special education department chair, middle school assistant principal and elementary school principal.

Dr. Iacobelli received her doctorate in education leadership as well as her sixth-year degree from Central Connecticut State University where, in 2010, she was honored with the Outstanding CCSU Alumni Leadership award. In addition, she earned an M.S. in educational computing from the University of Hartford, an M.S. in learning disabilities, and a B.S. in special education, both from Southern Connecticut State University.

"During her short tenure in East Haddam, Dr. Iacobelli has made great progress toward aligning our curriculum to the Common Core State Standards, developed a framework to align goals and priorities across the district with a focus on educational improvement, and has become very involved in the East Haddam community, both within the schools and in the community at large,” the Board of Education said in its statement.

Iacobelli’s official appointment is effective July 1.
