Thank you Nancy J. Haslam and the East Haddam Board of Education. Dr. Mary Beth Iacobelli offers many credentials, particularly regarding special education. But I have a question. Is this the same Dr. Mary Beth Iacobelli that was a defendant in the in the very sad case of a boy who committed suicide because of being bullied at the Washington Middle School in Meriden while she was the Assistant Principal the gatekeeper to the boy's safety? Daniel Scruggs took his own life on January 2,2002. He was diagnosed and was receiving services from the district for his learning disabilities but his true struggle was being bullied by his classmates at school until the point of no return. His mother a woman of modest means struggled with the school and Dr. Iacobelli to get him the help he needed. Dr. Iacobelli failed recognize that Daniel was being bullied and failed to save his life. East Haddam Board of Education was this the best candidate for the job? Thankfully this is an interim position, parents of East Haddam school aged children, get active and demand that the BoE act responsible and create a steering committee of community members and to hire qualified professional consultants to help us locate a competent and responsible Superintendent. Something that was not done with the hiring of Dr. Iacobelli. Save our schools!

The writer is offering slanderous comments. There is nothing that can be verified. It was also known that the student mentioned suffered much more than allegedly being bullied. Please, take down this post. It's very offensive and slanderous. -A friend to all.
