VIDEO: East Haddam Memorial Day Ceremony

Watch the Memorial Day Ceremony from the bridge to the former Nathan Hale-Ray Middle School.

Many turned out despite the weather for the annual Memorial Day Ceremony in East Haddam. The day began at 8:30am under overcast skies with a ceremony at the POW/MIA Flag overlooking the Connecticut River, where the flag was lowered to half staff in memorandum of those who lost their lives serving this country.

A small parade marched from the flag ceremony to the East Haddam Bridge where a wreath installation took place and was followed by the lowering of the flag to half mast at the Vietnam Memorial at Goodspeed Plaza.

Due to the heavy rain, the parade was cancelled and the ceremony continued in the gym of the former Nathan Hale-Ray Middle School at 10:30am. Veteran Norman Weber served as master of ceremony. (see video)
