Ted Kennedy Jr, a Branford resident and the son of the late Massachusetts Senator Ted Kennedy, will announce he's running for Connecticut's District 12 state senate seat on Tuesday, according to a BranfordSeven.com report.

The seat — which includes Branford, Guilford, Durham, Killingworth, Madison and North Branford — currently is held by Ed Meyers. The Democrat, a Guilford resident, has held the post since 2005.

Citing unnamed sources, BranfordSeven reports that Meyers will be retiring, with Kennedy expected to make his official campaign announcement this Tuesday at the Blackstone Library.

Health Care Background

Kennedy is a partner in the national law firm of Epstein Becker Green in the Health Care and Life Sciences practice of the firm’s Stamford, Connecticut offices.

Prior to joining Epstein Becker Green as a health care regulatory attorney, Ted co-founded and served as President of the Marwood Group, a healthcare focused financial services firm.

Previously, Mr. Kennedy served as Counsel to the law firm of Wiggin & Dana in New Haven, where his health law practice focused primarily on state and federal regulatory and reimbursement issues affecting hospitals, home care agencies, long-term providers, physicians, and mental health providers.

In addition, Mr. Kennedy served as Director of Legal and Regulatory Affairs at the Connecticut Hospital Association, counseling acute care providers and policy-makers on a wide variety of emerging health care issues.

Let’s just get it over with: replace our constitutional democratic republic form of govt. with a dynastic monarchy. It obviously will be ruled jointly by the Royal Families of Clinton and Kennedy. Representative legislatures at state and federal levels will be replaced by judges who will create new laws and abolish existing laws based on their own personal preferences as well as the personal preferences of the Royal Families. We must quietly submit and accept reality: this, in fact, already is a fait accompli.

Anyone who has paid attention to Ted's work, interests, family, and commitment to the Branford community, knows who he is and what he stands for. No matter how personally challenging the circumstances, Ted has always been his own man; speaking with a personal dignity that is evident by his core beliefs and his ethical character. We here in CT would be well served to have Ted representing us in the Senate.
