Senator Meyer: Send Land Swap Back to DEP

Meyer's amendement proposes removing the Haddam land swap from the conveyance bill and returning it to the Department of Environmental Protection.

The Senate's assistant majority leader is proposing the removal of the controversial Haddam land swap from the omnibus conveyance bill and returning it to the state's Department of Environmental Protection for its review.

Sen. Edward Meyer, D-Guilford, submitted an amendment Monday to the conveyance bill to remove from it the controversial proposal to swap 17.4 acres of state-owned land in the Tylerville section of Haddam for 87 acres of forest land in Higganum.

Instead, Meyer recommends the land swap plan be sent back to the DEP for its review. His amendment says the DEP should report their findings back to the legislature no later than February of 2012.
