Man of Honor: Mark Walter Elected to CCM Board

The East Haddam first selectman was elected during the Connecticut Conference of Municipalities' annual meeting this week.

East Haddam First Selectman Mark B. Walter was elected to the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Conference of Municipalities during the group’s annual meeting on Thursday.

Walter, who is currently serving in his second term as first selectman in East Haddam, was one of three town leaders elected to the CCM board.

"It's an honor to be part of the CCM Board and I look forward to helping represent our town at the state level,” Walter said Friday.

CCM is a major lobbying group for municipalities and represents the interests of more than 100 towns and cities in the General Assembly, the governor’s office and in the courts. The group also provides its member towns and cities with a variety of services, including management and labor relations assistance, policy development, research and analysis, publications, information programs and service programs, according to the group’s website.

CCM on Thursday also elected Mary A. Glassman, the first selectman of Simsbury, as president and Old Saybrook First Selectman Michael A. Pace as first vice president.

Walter earned a master’s degree in business administration from Northeastern University in Boston and has more than 25 years of successful business and management experience.  He is a former moderator and current member of the First Church of Christ, Congregational and served as a Boy Scout leader for 12 years and was an Eagle Scout himself.
