Killingworth Health Department Seeking Volunteers

The following press release was provided by Maura A. Esposito, Director of Health, Town of Killingworth:

The Town of Killingworth is seeking volunteers whom would like to assist the Town in times of emergencies. The Killingworth Health Department is in the process of updating our plans and seeking volunteers who are willing to help in various capacities.

The Town of Killingworth is located in The Mass Dispensing Area (MDA) Region 39 which includes our neighboring towns of Chester, Clinton, Deep River, Essex, Old Saybrook, and Westbrook. The Killingworth Health Department is working with the Connecticut River Area Health District (CRAHD) in updating our plan and training volunteers.

In a mass dispensing event, we are looking for volunteers who can serve in many capacities including working at the information desk, orientation, entering data, security, traffic flow, ability to be a translator, computer support, help with food service and transportation. We are also looking for specialized medical volunteers to work as vaccinators, evaluators, triage, screeners, EMT’s, after care counseling and those with mental health expertise.

A public health emergency would activate this plan and your volunteering. This emergency could be localized or statewide. In a statewide event, the governor declares a state of emergency.
