Killingworth Budget Referendum June 1

It's time to vote in Killingworth! The town's budget referendum will be taking place Saturday, June 1 from 8 AM to 8 PM at Killingworth Elementary School.

The town hall will be open during that time for emergency ballots.

Two items are on the ballot (see photo attached.) The first item concerns the operating budget and the second concerns the capital budget. The budget represents a .2% increase over last years budget.

"The operating budget is money we will spend in the fiscal year on operating costs, as well as money we will allocate to capital items, such as major vehicles and road repairs," said Catherine Iino. "If the money in the operating budget is not spent, it goes into reserves. That money in reserves helps our credit rating."

Iino also stated that the total money in the operating budget only is the total amount residents would be taxed for, not the sum of the operating and capital budgets.
