Support economic development in Haddam! Call legislative leaders today and let them know that you back the proposed land exchange between the town of Haddam and the state of Connecticut.

It is a sustainable project that balances the environmental sensitivity of the area with its economic benefits. The state gains a net of 70 acres of open space while creating jobs, reducing the property tax burden for the residents of Haddam and contributing to an increase in state revenues in the form of income, sales and business taxes. It should be noted that the legislative proposal maintains public access to a portion of the 17-acre site so that residents will still be able to enjoy the wonderful views of the Connecticut River. This is a win-win for the environment and economic development.

This land exchange has been properly vetted by town and local environmental leaders, including First Selectman Paul DeStefano, Conservation Commission Chairwoman Gail Reynolds, Planning and Zoning Chairman Malcolm Gorin, Inland Wetlands Chairman Mark Stephens, and Economic Development Commission Chairman Mike Fortuna.  They have evaluated the economic and environmental impacts of the project and have determined that it is in the best interests of the town to support the land exchange.  Check it out for yourself at www.haddamlandswap.com.
