East Haddam Voter Turnout Lower than State-Expected Average

By noon, the average voter turnout for the state was expected to be at 30% of registered voters.

The state-expected voter turnout for Tuesday's primary was expected to average 30% by noon. In East Haddam, the total voter turnout as of 3 p.m. was less than the expected state average as predicted by CT Secretary of State Denise Merill.

Here is the breakdown as of 3 p.m.:

  • Of 1340 registered Republicans in East Haddam, 190 had voted (14%).
  • Of 1979 registered Democrats in East Haddam, 323 had voted (16%).

According to Laurie Alt, East Haddam Democrat Registrar, there have been more voters so far today than there usually is as a town referendum vote. Alt expects the numbers of voters to increase as the day goes on and more people head home from work.
