Candidate Profile: Amy Jacques-Purdy

My name is Amy Jacques-Purdy.  I’ve been a resident of the town of Haddam for 11 years and have served on the Board of Education for eight years, the past two as Chair.  I am a part time high school Social Studies teacher in Region 13 and have been able to successfully balance the significant responsibilities of and time commitment to the Board of Education. I have served on a variety of committees including Curriculum Council, the Communications Committee, and the Personnel Committee. I bring experience and institutional history to the table; both are important for continuity and growth. 

I am running for a third term on the Board of Education because I believe in this district. We have tremendously talented and dedicated staff as well as supportive families and communities. The Board has supported the implementation of challenging, engaging curricula to prepare our students to become productive and involved citizens of the world. I am committed to high quality instruction that is engaging and authentic and which meets the needs of all learners. I would like to continue to work toward excellence in this district. I believe that we are today a better school district than we were eight years ago and I have enjoyed the challenges that accompany the work of a Board of Education.
