Violation of a Protective Order, Stolen Dirt-Bike, Criminal Mischief, DUI and Assault

East Haddam and Moodus area police activity reports.

 

The East Haddam Police and the Connecticut State Police, Troop K in Colchester report the following incidents:

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUGS AND FAILURE TO DRIVE UPON THE RIGHT - On March 25th at approximately 2:07 a.m., Jennifer Gowac, 29, of 72 Oak Road, East Haddam was traveling eastbound on Olmstead Road in East Haddam, when she lost control of her vehicle and struck a utility pole on the right side of the roadway. Gowac was arrested and charged with the above violations. She was transported to Troop K, processed and later released on a $500 non-surety bond. Gowac was scheduled to appear at Middlesex Superior Court in Middletown on 4/11/12.

LARCENY - On March 27th, a yellow and white Suzuki dirt-bike was reported stolen from a Town Street, East Haddam residence. The East Haddam Resident Troopers' Office is investigating, and anyone with possible information is asked to contact TFC Jeff Rhoades at the Connecticut State Police, Troop K at 860-537-7500.

POSSESSION OF NARCOTICS NOT KEPT IN THE ORIGINAL CONTAINER AND POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA - On March 29th at approximately 3:00 p.m., East Haddam police initiated a motor-vehicle stop on Cold Spring Road in East Haddam. The officer noticed a bottle of medication in the vehicle, and determined that the contents were not in the original container. A passenger in the vehicle, Cynthia Onofrio, 45, of 143 Clark Hill Road, East Haddam was arrested and charged with the above violations. Onofrio was released on a $1,000 non-surety bond and given a court date of 4/10/12 at Middlesex Superior Court in Middletown.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT AND THIRD-DEGREE ASSAULT - On March 30th at 9:20 a.m., Joseph Bartlett, Jr., 18, of 63 Neptune Avenue, Moodus turned himself in to Troop K based on a court-issued arrest warrant for the above violations. Bartlett was held on a $2,500 cash bond and scheduled to appear later that day at Middlesex Superior Court in Middletown.

VIOLATION OF PROBATION - On March 31st at approximately 1:30 p.m., Lonnie Burr, 55, of 31 Grist Mill Lane, Moodus turned himself in to Troop K based on a warrant for the above violation. Burr was released on a $2,500 cash bond and scheduled to appear at Middlesex Superior Court in Middletown on 4/10/12.

VANDALISM AND CRIMINAL MISCHIEF - On March 31st at approximately 1:00 p.m., police were called to the Nathan Hale-Ray Middle School on Clark Gates Road in Moodus. Unknown individual(s) spray painted the words "You're All Gay" and "Goon Squad" on the corner of the main building. Additional graffiti was discovered on the storage shed behind the school, where the words "Goon Squad" were spray-painted on that building, as well. Anyone who may have information that could help police with this investigation is asked to contact Officer Mark Creighton at the East Haddam Police Department at 860-873-1226, or the Connecticut State Police Troop K at 860-537-7500. VIOLATION OF A PROTECTIVE ORDER AND DISORDERLY CONDUCT - On March 31st at approximately 1:45 p.m., Chester Mounts, 54, of 107 Training Hill Road, Middletown was arrested and charged with the above violations, as a result of a domestic dispute. Mounts was released on a $500 cash bond and given a court date of 4/2/12 at Middlesex Superior Court in Middletown.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT - On March 31st at approximately 1:45 p.m., Laurie Sweeney, 50, of 21 Hilltop Road, Moodus was arrested and charged with the above violation. Sweeney was released on a written promise to appear and scheduled to appear at Middlesex Superior Court in Middletown on 4/2/12.
