Two-Car Motor Vehicle Accident on the East Haddam Bridge, Breach of Peace, Stolen Checks
East Haddam Police Activity Reports, March 18-25
The East Haddam Police and The Connecticut State Police, Troop K, Colchester, report the following incidents:
LARCENY - On March 18, an incident involving stolen checks was reported by a Three Bridges Road resident, and the case is under investigation.
TWO-CAR MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT - On March 23, at approximately 4:22 p.m., Elise Reichardt, 56, of Bingham Road, Canterbury, was traveling eastbound on the East Haddam swing bridge, in a 1998 Subaru Forester. Amber Belanger-Smith, 25, of Wood St, Meriden, was traveling westbound on the bridge, in a 1998 Ford Ranger, when she made an improper turn and struck Reichardt's vehicle, causing moderate damage to both vehicles. No injuries were reported to police at the time of the accident, however both vehicles had to be towed from the scene. Belanger-Smith was issued an infraction for making an improper turn.
BREACH OF PEACE - On March 25, Gary Skellwies, 49, of 108 Wildwood Road, East Haddam, was arrested for the above charge.
BREACH OF PEACE - On March 25, David Skellwies, 46, of 12 North Pond Road, Amston, was arrested for the above charge.
