Two-Car Collision, Pedestrian Avoided; Interfering with an Emergency Call and Disorderly Conduct

East Haddam area police activity reports.

 

The East Haddam Police and the Connecticut State Police, Troop K in Colchester report the following incidents:


DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUGS AND FAILURE TO DRIVE UPON THE RIGHT - On Feb. 24th at approximately 1:25 a.m., Richard Hart, 42, of Orchard Road, East Haddam was arrested and charged with the above violations. Hart was released on a $500 non-surety bond and given a court date of 3/23/12 at New London Superior Court in New London.

HARASSMENT - On Feb. 25th at 1:11 p.m., Charles Tietjen, 61, of 267 Branford Road, North Branford was arrested pursuant to a court-ordered warrant for 2nd-degree harassment. Tietjen was held on a $5,000 bond and scheduled to appear at Middlesex Superior Court in Middletown on 2/27/12.

TWO-CAR COLLISION, PEDESTRIAN AVOIDED - On Feb. 26th at approximately 1:28 p.m., Sarah Peckham, 38, of Babcock Road, East Haddam was traveling northbound on Town Street in Moodus, driving a 2010 Chevy Aveo. Carolyn Parkos, 61, of Cove Road, Moodus was traveling southbound on Town Street in a 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix. Police reported that Parkos drove her vehicle over to the left of the center yellow lines, in an attempt to avoid a pedestrian who was walking northbound along the roadway in the area of School Drive. The vehicles made contact, causing minor damage to both driver's side mirrors. No injuries were reported, but Parkos was issued a written warning for failure to drive in the established lane.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT AND INTERFERING WITH AN EMERGENCY CALL - On Feb. 29th at 9:00 a.m., Jared Clark, 32, of 38 Knoll Road, East Haddam was arrested and charged with the above violations. Clark was later released on a $1,000 cash bond and scheduled to appear at Middlesex Superior Court in Middletown on 3/1/12.

MISUSE OF MARKER PLATES, OPERATING A MOTOR-VEHICLE WITH A SUSPENDED LICENSE, OPERATING WITHOUT INSURANCE AND FAILURE TO DISPLAY A FRONT MARKER PLATE - On March 1st at 4:27 p.m., Coty Rugar, 24, of 9 Brooke Hill Road, East Haddam was pulled over by Colchester police for a traffic stop on Route 149 in the area of Starr Road, arrested and charged with the above violations. Rugar was held on a $250 insured bond and presented at Norwich Superior Court in Norwich on 3/2/12.
