Truck vs. Chain-Link Fence, Breach of Peace, Self-Inflicted Injuries

East Haddam area police activity reports for this week.

The East Haddam Police and the Connecticut State Police, Troop K report the following incidents:

MOTOR-VEHICLE vs. UTILITY POLE - On July 21 at approximately 8:29 a.m., Kenneth Kowalczyk, 44, of Northhampton Lane, Plainville was traveling southbound on East Haddam-Colchester Turnpike in East Haddam in a 2000 Chevrolet Corvette. Kowalczyk lost control of the vehicle while trying to negotiate a corner, striking a utility pole. No injuries were reported.

MOTOR-VEHICLE vs. TREE - On July 24 at approximately 2:12 a.m., George Fay, 50, of Mount Parnassus Road, East Haddam, was traveling eastbound on Mount Parnassus Road in a 1996 Chevrolet Corvette, when he failed to negotiate a curve and proceeded across the westbound travel lane, striking a tree. Fay was transported to the Marlborough Emergency Clinic for treatment of injuries suffered in the accident. The vehicle sustained heavy damage, according to police, and had to be towed from the scene.

TRUCK vs. CHAIN-LINK FENCE - On July 25, police were called to investigate a report of an evading vehicle that had damaged a chain-link fence in the parking lot of the 7-11 convenience store on Falls Road in Moodus. According to the owner of the store, it was later discovered that a dairy delivery truck was responsible for the damage, but had failed to report the incident at the time.

TWO-VEHICLE ACCIDENT - On July 30 at approximately 9:11 a.m., Kenneth Walton, 49, of Patchogue Place, Westbrook was traveling eastbound in a 2004 Ford F-250 on Mount Parnassus Road in East Haddam. Armand Tonucci, 70, of Mount Parnassus Road, was attempting to turn out of his driveway onto Mount Parnassus Road in a 2006 Acura-RSX, and was struck by Walton's vehicle. No injuries were reported.

BREACH OF PEACE - On July 30 at approximately 7:09 p.m., Danielle Jacobs, 22, of 127 Falls Road, Moodus had reportedly displayed a knife and threatened to harm herself. Jacobs was arrested and charged with breach of peace and presented by police to East Haddam Ambulance personnel with self-inflicted injuries. Jacobs was taken by ambulance to Middlesex Memorial Hospital in Middletown for emergency evaluation and treatment. She is scheduled to appear in court on 8/9/11 in lieu of a $1,000 non-surety bond.

INTERFERING WITH AN EMERGENCY CALL AND DISORDERLY CONDUCT - On July 30 at approximately 2:00 p.m., Mark Santangelo, 55, of 405 Tater Hill Road, East Haddam, was arrested and charged with interfering with an emergency call and disorderly conduct. Santangelo was processed at Troop K, released on a $1,000 non-surety bond, and given a court date of 8/1/11 at Middlesex Superior Court in Middletown.
