Troop F Blotter — Arrests Ending Jan. 3

Recent arrests from Haddam and the surrounding area.

The following information came from the State Police Troop F barracks in Westbrook. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Haddam

Jan. 3

Benjamin P. Smith, 47, 182 Fowler Ave., Middletown, was charged with operating under the influence, disobeying the signal of an officer, interfering with an officer and a breach of peace after police said he was stopped in his Nissan Rogue on Jan. 3 at 7:06 p.m. after police said he was reportedly causing a disturbance at Terry's Package Store in Haddam. Smith failed field sobriety tests and became combative, resisting arrest, police said. Police used pepper spray to subdue him and he was taken into custody. Smith was held on a $5,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in Middlesex Superior Court on Jan. 6. 

Old Lyme

Jan. 1

A person was pulled over on I-95 north in the area of Exit 70 for several equipment violations and was issued an infraction for possession of marijuana. Police did not identify the person.

Durham

Dec. 30


Geishley Gonzalez, 18, 560 East Main St., Apt. 1E, Meriden, was charged with fifth-degree larceny on Dec. 30 in connection to an incident on Main Street in Durham on on Oct. 18. Gonzalez was held on a $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in Middlesex Superior Court on Jan. 13. 

Middlefield

Dec. 31

On Dec. 31, a complainant came in to the Middlefield Resident Trooper's Office to report a fraudulent charges on his debit bank card. Three charges were made totaling $418.91. All three charges were made out of state. No suspect information is known at this time and the case is under further investigation.

Westbrook

Dec. 30

State police are investigating a report of slashed tires and damaged mailboxes on Meadowbrook Road and Hammock Road North in the town of Westbrook on Dec. 30. Four homeowners were affected. The case is under investigation.

Jan. 1

William J. Reilly, 19, 42 Bryants Way, Swansea, Mass., was charged with reckless driving after police said he was clocked going 102 mph in a posted 65 mph zone. Reilly was held on a $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in Middlesex Superior Court on Jan. 15.

Deep River

Jan. 3

Christopher Whittle, 37, 229 Blood St., Old Lyme, was charged with third-degree criminal mischief, sixth-degree larceny, criminal impersonation and interfering with an officer after police said he stole a purse from a person at the Adams Supermarket on Main Street in Deep River on Jan. 3 at 5:11 p.m. Whittle was held on a $1,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in Middlesex Superior Court on Jan. 17.
