Traveling Too Fast, Disorderly, DUI

Troop F Westbrook Incident Reports, Jan. 28-Feb. 5

DISORDERLY CONDUCT — On Feb. 5 at 7:35 p.m., Westbrook State Troopers responded to 26 Rutty Ferry Drive, Haddam, for a reported domestic disturbance. Gregory J. Gallant, 52, was arrested. His son, Bryan A. Gallant, 22, fled the scene and is wanted on the same charge.

OPERATING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF DRUGS/ALCOHOL, FAILURE TO DRIVE RIGHT — On Feb. 4 at 10:56 p.m., Shayn Foley, 29, of Thayer Road, Higganum, was seen driving erratically on Route 81 in the area of Green Hill Road. He was pulled over on Hemlock Drive, failed the standardized field sobriety test and was brought to Troop F and arrested.

SECOND-DEGREE FAILURE TO APPEAR — While conducting a motor vehicle stop Feb. 4 on Route 81 in Killingworth, Westbrook Police determined the passenger, Ryan Atkinson, 28, of Parker Hill Ext., Killingworth, had an outstanding warrant from a Sept. 8, 2010, incident on Camp Bethel Road, Haddam.

TOO FAST FOR CONDITIONS — Feb. 1, 10:01 a.m., Sonia Pinto, 28, of Asylum Street, New Haven, was traveling in her 1998 Mercedes E320 northbound on Route 9 in the left lane of two lanes. John Thomas, 72, of Spring Street, New Britain, was traveling in his 1990 Buick Regal on Route 9 northbound in the right lane. Pinto passed Thomas on the left and lost control of her car, fishtailing on the snow- and slush-covered highway. Thomas was unable to slow on the slick roads and hit Pinto’s car. Pinto went off the road to the right and struck the wire rope guardrail. No injuries were reported. Pinto was determined to be at fault.

TRAVELING TOO FAST FOR CONDITIONS — On Jan. 28, at 2:52 p.m., Harold Thorpe, 71, of Middletown was driving a school bus for Regional School District 17 on Weiss Albert Road, 2/10ths of a mile south of Candlewood Hill Road intersection, when Nicola Rinaldi, 36, of Wiese Albert Road, Higganum, lost control of her 2008 Chevrolet Impala in the snow-covered road and struck the bus on the left front. Rinaldi’s car sustained severe left front-end damage and she was issued a warning. No injuries were reported.
