Threatening, Larceny of a Generator, DUI, Criminal Mischief and Breach of Peace

East Haddam area police activity reports.

The East Haddam Police and the Connecticut State Police, Troop K report the following incidents:


MAKING AN IMPROPER TURN - On Oct. 25 at approximately 7:47 a.m., Mahin Saeedi, 62, of 16 Beach Road, East Haddam was traveling eastbound on Route 82 in East Haddam, just west of Porges Road in a 2006 Toyota Corolla. Saeedi's vehicle drifted off the right-hand side of the roadway, striking a mailbox and the side of a barn. Police issued Saeedi a written warning for making an improper turn. No injuries were reported.

FAILURE TO APPEAR IN COURT - On Oct. 28, Doug Wilson, 48, of 77 Scenic View Drive, Deep River turned himself in to Troop K based on an active warrant for failure to appear in court. Wilson was processed according to police department policy without incident, and released on a $1,000 surety bond. He was given a court date of 11/8/11 at Middlesex Superior Court in Middletown.

LITTERING - On Oct. 28, East Haddam Police were called to the Lake Hayward area to respond to a complaint that unknown person(s) had dumped an old shed on Lake Hayward Association property, and the case is under investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious is asked to contact the Connecticut State Police, Troop K at 860-537-7500.

 

CRIMINAL TRESPASSING - On Oct. 31 at approximately 12:11 a.m., Joshua Giddings, 23, of 504 Town Street, Moodus was discovered by police, occupying a vacant building on Town Street. Police contacted the owner of the building, who confirmed that Giddings was not authorized to be there. Giddings was arrested and charged with 2nd-degree criminal trespass, released on a written promise to appear, and given a court date of 11/15/11 at Middlesex Superior Court.

 

LARCENY OF A GENERATOR - On Oct. 31 at approximately 4:57 p.m., East Haddam Police received a complaint of a Toro 3000-watt generator missing from a Dogwood Road, Moodus residence. Anyone with information that could help police with this case is asked to contact Corporal Karl Karabeinikoff at the East Haddam Police Department at 860-873-1226, or the Confidential Tip Line at 860-873-5013.

 

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUGS, OPERATING WITH A SUSPENDED LICENSE, FAILURE TO DRIVE UPON THE RIGHT AND FAILURE TO HAVE PROPER ILLUMINATION OF A LICENSE PLATE - On Oct. 31 at approximately 8:30 p.m., Johnathon Morin, 30, of 203 Lebanon Avenue, Colchester was arrested and charged with the above.Morin was released on a $1,000 non-surety bond and given a court date of 11/9/11 at Middlesex Superior Court in Middletown.

 

DISORDERLY CONDUCT - On Oct. 31, Amber Pierce, 18, of 531 Old Hartford Road, Colchester was arrested and charged with the above. Police say she was a passenger in a vehicle at a traffic stop, was intoxicated, and refused to stay out of the roadway despite being warned several times. Pierce was scheduled to appear at Middlesex Superior Court on 11/15/11.

 

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF, BREACH OF PEACE AND THREATENING - On Oct. 31, police arrested a 17-year-old and charged him with the above, after an incident in which the juvenile created a disturbance with his mother during a motor-vehicle stop on Eli Chapman Road in Moodus. Police report that the youth threatened his mother and caused damage to her vehicle. No injuries were reported. The juvenile was processed at Troop K, released on a $1,000 non-surety bond and given a court date of 11/1/11 at Middlesex Superior Court.
