Strangulation, Threatening, Stolen Cigarettes, Unlawful Restraint and Interfering With Police

Haddam area police activity reports.

 

The Haddam Resident Troopers' Office and the Connecticut State Police, Troop F in Westbrook report the following incidents:


LARCENY OF A GENERATOR - On Nov. 2, State Police at Troop F received a complaint that a generator belonging to Comcast Communications had been stolen. The generator had been left chained to a utility pole on Turkey Hill Road in Haddam to power cable lines during the power outages. The case is under investigation, and anyone with possible information that could help police is asked to contact the Connecticut State Police, Troop F at 860-399-2100 or 1-800-256-5761.


POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA - On Nov. 6 at approximately 3:22 p.m., police discovered an abandoned 1996 Saab hatch-back that had been left abandoned on the Route 9 (exit 10) off-ramp in Middletown. Upon further investigation, police found drug paraphernalia related  to the use of less than a half-ounce of marijuana inside the vehicle. Matthew Mosher, 25 of 15 Killingworth Road, Higganum was later charged with the above and issued an infraction.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT - On Nov. 7 at approximately 10:47 p.m., Melissa Ann Scott, 49, of 72 Cedar Lake Road, Deep River was involved in a verbal dispute with her boyfriend, and it was reported that she had admittedly 'slapped him across the face' according to police. Scott was arrested, taken into custody and transported to Troop F for processing. No injuries were reported as a result of the incident, and Scott was released on a $500 surety bond and scheduled to appear at Middlesex Superior Court in Middletown on 11/8/11.


THIRD-DEGREE ASSAULT, DISORDERLY CONDUCT, RESISTING ARREST AND INTERFERING WITH AN OFFICER - On Nov. 11 a 17-year-old was arrested on the above charges after a domestic incident and physical altercation at a Cedar Lake Road, Haddam residence in which he assaulted a family member. The juvenile was released on a $500 bond and given a court date of 11/14/11 at Middlesex Superior Court in Middletown.

THREATENING, DISORDERLY CONDUCT, THIRD-DEGREE CRIMINAL MISCHIEF, THIRD-DEGREE STRANGULATION AND SECOND-DEGREE UNLAWFUL RESTRAINT - On Nov. 12, Anthony Maggi, 25, of 55 Haddam View Heights, Haddam was arrested at his residence based on an active warrant for the above charges, related to a previous domestic violence incident. Maggi was taken into custody and processed at Troop F in Westbrook, held in lieu of a $50,000 bond and scheduled to appear at Middlesex Superior Court on 11/14/11.


MOTOR-VEHICLE vs. TREES - On Nov. 13 at approximately 12:07 a.m., James Rogers, 19, of McTigh Road, Higganum was traveling westbound on Pokomy Road in Haddam, in a 2004 Ford F-250. Rogers' vehicle veered off of the right-hand side of the roadway, striking several trees. No injuries were reported, but the vehicle sustained moderate damage and had to be towed from the scene. The accident remains under investigation.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY AND CRIMINAL MISCHIEF - On Nov. 13 at approximately 1:10 a.m., unknown person(s) used a large rock to break through the  front door of Higganum Mart, 210 Saybrook Road in Haddam to gain entry to the store. Police report that approximately 70 cartons of cigarettes valued at $6,020 were stolen, and the case is under investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious or might have information that could help police with this investigation is asked to contact the Connecticut State Police, Troop F at 860-399-2100 or 1-800-256-5761.
