State Police Investigate Residential Burglary in Haddam

Haddam area police activity reports for the week.

The Haddam Resident Troopers' Office and the Connecticut State Police, Troop F, report the following incidents:

FAILURE TO DRIVE A REASONABLE DISTANCE APART - On July 14 at approximately 6:05 p.m., Donna Lagrave, 43, of Woodtick Road, Wolcott was traveling northbound on Route 9 in a 2007 Dodge Caliber in the left of the two lanes. Police say Lagrave suddenly slowed down for the speed of traffic and was struck from behind by a 1995 Toyota Camry, driven by Ashley Wescott, 28, of Killingworth Road, Haddam. No injuries were reported, but Wescott was issued an infraction for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.


FAILURE TO DRIVE A REASONABLE DISTANCE APART - On July 15 at approximately 12:03 p.m., Thomas Angelillo, 47, of Old Turnpike Road, Plantsville was traveling southbound on Madison Road (Route 17), Durham, in the area of Pisgah Road, driving a 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe. Anthony Maggi, 24, of River Road in Haddam was traveling in front of Angelillo in a 1998 Ford F-150 pick up owned by Tylerville Home Center of Bridge Street, Haddam. Police report that, as Maggi slowed to turn into a driveway, he was struck from behind by Angelillo's vehicle, which sustained heavy front-end damage as a result. The truck operated by Maggi was driving sustained only minor left rear-side damage. No injures were reported. Angelillo was issued a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.


FAILURE TO YIELD THE RIGHT-OF-WAY - On July 17 at approximately 8:07 a.m., Lucy Marchigiano, 44, of (no street address given) Higganum was traveling northbound on Route 154 in Haddam in a 2006 Ford Escape. Joseph Battista, 82, of Roseleah Drive, Mystic, was pulling out of a driveway to turn left onto Route 154, driving a 2010 Toyota Camry and was struck by Marchigiano's vehicle. Battista was treated at the scene of the accident for injuries. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene. Marchigiano was issued a written warning for failure to yield the right-of-way.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY - On July 18, State Police were called to investigate a burglary that took place at a home on Weiss Road in Haddam. A resident reported the theft of a 42-inch flat-screen TV and a PlayStation-3 game system.
