Stabbing Incident on New Year's Day, Possession of Alcohol by a Minor and Burglary Suspects Apprehended in Higganum

Haddam area police activity reports.

 

The Haddam Resident Troopers' Office and the Connecticut State Police, Troop F in Westbrook report the following incidents:

BREACH OF PEACE AND ASSAULT - On Dec. 23, Andre Frazer, 32, of 91 Burgundy Hill Lane, Middletown was arrested and charged with 2nd-degree breach of peace and 3rd-degree assault, pursuant to an active warrant. Frazer was released from custody on a promise to appear and given a court date of 1/20/12 at Middlesex Superior Court in Middletown.

BURGLARY AND LARCENY - On Dec. 23 at approximately 4:24 p.m., State Troopers from the Troop F barracks in Westbrook received a report of a suspicious vehicle that was located on the property of an unoccupied residence on Fowler Avenue in Durham. The vehicle left the area before police arrived, but was later located and detained by a DEEP officer in the town of Higganum. Upon further investigation, police say they were able to recover stolen property as evidence of a break-in. Two suspects were arrested and taken into custody. Matthew Mosher, 26, of 4 Calliari Place, Higganum was charged with 3rd-degree burglary from a motor-vehicle and 6th-degree larceny, theft from a building. Nicholas Waite, 20, of 10 Third Avenue, Haddam was charged with 3rd-degree burglary and 6th-degree larceny, theft from a building. Both individuals were issued non-surety bonds of $10,000 each and scheduled to appear at Middlesex Superior Court in Middletown on 1/6/12.

RISK OF INJURY TO A MINOR AND POSSESSION OF ALCOHOL BY A MINOR - On Dec. 29 at approximately 3:06 p.m., police responded to a residence on Sepunnomo Lane in Haddam for a reported overdose. A 15-year-old male was discovered by his mother, passed out from alcohol intoxication. The victim was transported to Middlesex Hospital for medical treatment for severe alcohol intoxication, according to Haddam Resident Trooper Enrico Milardo.

The victim's friend, also a 15-year-old male, was visiting at the time and had provided the alcoholic beverages. The minor was issued a Juvenile Summons to court, and charged with risk of injury to a minor and possession of alcohol by a minor. He was released to the custody of his parent at the scene. The case is currently under further investigation.

FAILURE TO OBEY A STOP SIGN AND DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUGS - On Dec. 30 at approximately 8:16 p.m., Michael Mallon, 46, of 15 Pinewood Trail, Deep River was arrested and charged with the above violations. Mallon was later released on a $500 non-surety bond, pending a court date of 1/11/12 at Middlesex Superior Court.

BREACH OF PEACE, ASSAULT, AND DISORDERLY CONDUCT - On Jan. 1 (New Year's Day) at approximately 3:07 a.m., police responded to a Hubbard Road, Higganum residence for a domestic dispute. According to police, Kris-Anne Vogel, 42, of 67 Hubbard Road, Higganum reportedly stabbed Darrin Romano, 44, of the same address, in the hand with a knife.

Romano sustained minor injuries to his face and upper body, as well as a stab wound to his finger. He was transported via ambulance to the Shoreline Clinic in Essex for treatment. Romano was charged with 3rd-degree criminal mischief, disorderly conduct and 3rd-degree assault.

Police said Vogel sustained minor injuries to her face, arm and thigh, and was sent to Middlesex Hospital for evaluation. She was charged with disorderly conduct and 2nd-degree assault using a weapon.

Both parties were  released from custody after posting bonds of $1,000 each. They were also both issued a condition of release, ordering them not to have any contact with each other pending a court appearance on 1/3/12 at Middlesex Superior Court in Middletown.
