Route 9 Driver Pulled Over in Haddam; Charged with DUI

Meriden resident Wilson Carrero, 65, was stopped on Route 9 in Haddam and was charged with operating under the influence of drugs/alcohol.

The following information was provided by the Troop F Police Blotter at their barracks in Westbrook, CT. An arrest does not constitute a conviction and all defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

At approximately 9:40 PM on July 19, Wilson Carrero, 65, of 120 Hitchcock Drive, Meriden, was stopped on the shoulder on Route 9 Southbound in Haddam. According to Trooper Joseph O'Connell's police report, Carrero "exhibited signs of intoxication and was subsequently administered the Standard Field Sobriety Tests."

Police say that Carrero was placed under arrest and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs/alcohol. Carrero was transported to Troop F barracks in Westbrook for processing, police say.

Carrero was released on a $500 non surety bond according to the police report. He is set to appear in court on August 8 at the Superior Court in Middletown.
