Report: East Haddam Woman Escapes Alleged Kidnapping

According to the Norwich Bulletin, State Police say that an East Haddam woman escaped from an alleged kidnapper Friday night around 10 PM.

Monday afternoon, the Norwich Bulletin reported that an East Haddam woman escaped from an alleged kidnapping Friday night. According to their report, state and Norwich police received 911 calls reporting there was a "man with a gun and a woman claiming to be kidnapped." The Bulletin stated the police responded to the Burger King on Salem Turnpike in Norwich. 

The alleged kidnapper, Davendra Persaud, was an acquaintance of the victim, according to the Bulletin. Persaud was taken to Troop K in Colchester, and has been charged with first-degree kidnapping, first-degree unlawful restraint, two counts of first-degree reckless endangerment and carrying a handgun without a permit, according to the Bulletin's article.
