Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Burglary, Robbery and Larceny

East Haddam area police activity reports.

The East Haddam Police and the Connecticut State Police, Troop K report the following incidents:

TRAVELING TOO FAST FOR CONDITIONS - On Aug. 28 at approximately 3:19 a.m., Meghan Waite, 26, of Countryside Lane, Middletown, was traveling westbound on Mount Parnassus Road in the area of Warner Road in a 2003 GMC. Waite lost control of the vehicle on a curve, traveled off the roadway and struck a mailbox and an embankment. No injuries were reported by Waite or her three passengers, but police issued her an infraction for traveling too fast for conditions.

BURGLARY, ROBBERY, LARCENY, AND BREACH OF PEACE - On Aug. 29 at approximately 11:15 a.m., Kevin Osalza, 20, of 323 Lake Shore Drive, East Haddam, was arrested for 3rd-degree burglary, 3rd-degree robbery, 6th-degree larceny and breach of peace. Osalza was released on a $25,000 bond and scheduled to appear at Middlesex Superior Court in Middletown on 8/30/11.

BURGLARY, ROBBERY AND LARCENY - On Aug. 30, Kevin Osalza, 20, of 323 Lake Shore Drive, East Haddam was arrested and charged with 3rd-degree burglary, 3rd-degree robbery, and 6th-degree larceny, based on an active warrant for an incident prior to his 8/29/11 arrest. Osalza was detained on a $25,000 bond, pending a court date of 9/20/11 at Middlesex Superior Court.

MOTOR-VEHICLE vs. SIGN-POST - On Sept. 6 at approximately 9:37 p.m., Lauren Napier, 18, of Jan Drive, Colchester was traveling along Falls Road in Moodus in a 1998 Chevy Malibu, when she failed to negotiate a curve and struck a business sign. No injuries were reported.

BURGLARY AND LARCENY - On Sept. 7, an employee of the East Haddam Free Public Library on Plains Road in Moodus reported that unknown person(s) entered the building after hours, and money was taken. The incident is under investigation and anyone with possible information is asked to contact Corporal Karl Karabeinikoff at the East Haddam Police Department at 860-873-1226.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT AND POSSESSION OF A FIREARM BY A CONVICTED FELON - On Sept. 7 at 6:15 p.m., John Owens, 33, of 34 North Moodus Road, Moodus was arrested and charged with the above. Owens was held on a $5,500 bond and scheduled to appear at Middlesex Superior Court in Middletown on 9/8/11.

VIOLATION OF A RESTRAINING ORDER - On Sept. 7, Tod Boulware, of 300 Palisades Avenue, Yonkers, New York was arrested and charged with the above. Boulware was held on a $25,000 bond and given a court date of 9/8/11 at Middlesex Superior Court in Middletown.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT - On Sept. 10, Christopher Smith, 19, of 12 Southwinds Road, Moodus was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, released on a $500 bond, and given a court date of 9/12/11.

HARASSMENT - On Sept. 14 at approximately 3:07 a.m., a Leesville Road, Moodus resident called police to report that an ex-boyfriend had been sending inappropriate text messages for several days, using unprompted and abusive language. Police are investigating.

BURGLARY AND LARCENY - On Sept. 14 at approximately 8:11 p.m., police were assigned to investigate a reported break-in at the Moodus Sportsman's Club on East Haddam-Colchester Turnpike in East Haddam, when two TV's were reportedly stolen. The case is under investigation.

LARCENY - On Sept. 15, the East Haddam Resident Troopers' Office responded to the Rose Hill Farm on Route 82 in East Haddam to investigate the theft of  two Honda engines for a log-splitting machine and a conveyor belt.

MOTOR-VEHICLE vs. TREE - On Sept. 15 at approximately 9:36 p.m., Kelly Beaulieu, 27, of Indiancola Road, Niantic, was traveling eastbound on Haywardville Road in East Haddam in a 2005 Dodge Neon. Beaulieu failed to negotiate a turn and went off the roadway and struck a tree. Police issued Beaulieu a written warning for making an improper right turn.
