Police: Woman Crashed Stolen Car

Police say the 1999 Toyota was stolen from Higganum Center.

A Higganum woman was charged with larceny and driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol after crashing what police say was a stolen car on Candlewood Hill Road last week.

Besides the DUI charge, Loraine Stook, 39, of 52 Indian Hill Road, was charged with third-degree larceny and failure to stay in an established lane following the incident, which happened on Tuesday, June 21, according to the report issued by the arresting officer, Haddam Resident Trooper Enrico Milardo.

Police say Stook was traveling south on Candlewood Hill Road around 7:13 p.m., when the 1999 Toyota Corolla she was driving went off the right shoulder of the road and crashed into a guard rail wire. Stook was not injured in the accident.
