Police: High Speed Chase Called Off in Durham

State police are searching for the driver involved in a dangerous chase on Jan. 1 that ended along Route 68.

State police are searching for a driver involved in a high speed chase that ended along Route 68 in Durham earlier this month.

According to a police report, shortly after midnight on Jan. 1, police attempted to stop a driver for speeding along I-91, near exit 15 in Wallingford.

The driver, according to the report, refused to stop and eluded police by driving the wrong way on the exit 15 entrance ramp to the highway.

The chase continued eastbound along Route 68 through Wallingford and into Durham. Police say the pursuit was broken off when the motorist began driving into oncoming traffic with the vehicle's lights off.

Police have not released a description of the vehicle or a suspect.

I'm glad there is a police officer with some common sense. Unfortunately, the state police speed extremely fast past our house on Rt. 17. I'm afraid they are endangering people. Is where they are going really that important?

Wouldn't they just get their license plate number, find out who the car was registered to and go to that persons house and get answers?

DMFres They may very well have at this point, it's not clear. I only recently received the original police report. I plan to follow up with police about the investigation.

that'd be very good to know, someone who drives as reported should be taken off the road some how before somebody gets hurt or killed.
