The Waterford Police Department has confirmed that they found a 34-year-old Waterford resident dead just past 8 p.m. Friday from an inflicted gunshot wound to the chest in the parking lot in front of Waterford’s Family Bowl.
There have been multiple reports that the man was shot, but Waterford Police Lt. David Burton said he was not prepared to confirm that yet. Burton said police are not yet releasing the name of the victim and would not confirm if the 34-year-old male inflicted the wound to himself or if somebody else inflicted it.
Burton said police have no one in custody and the case remains an active investigation. At the scene, there was a black car parked diagonally in the parking lot, with no glass shattered and the door open, taped off by police.
Gary Picardi, who owns Waterford’s Family Bowl, said the man never entered the bowling alley and the incident was contained in the parking lot. He said he heard nothing from inside the bowling alley and nobody knew about the death until a person left the bowling alley, saw the man and called 9-1-1. Picardi said there have never been any issues in the bowling alley.
“The world is just going crazy out there,” Picardi said.
