Killingworth's Chatfield Hollow Closes After Poison Threat

The park and swimming area are closed indefinitely after a Madison man allegedly threatened to poison park waters.

By Pem McNerney and Lauren Lanzon:

A 55-year-old Madison man has been arrested and charged with threatening to poison the water at Chatfield Hollow State Park, according to a state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection official. The Courant reports that DEEP employees began receiving threatening emails Tuesday afternoon.

According to that report in The Hartford Courant: "The park and its swimming area are closed until further notice, said department spokesman Dwayne Gardner. The DEEP Emergency Response Unit was at the park Tuesday night testing the water, he said. They expect to have results on Wednesday. 'We need to take the threat seriously,' Gardner said. Wayde A. Isakson was charged with first-degree threatening, breach of peace and making terroristic threats, Gardner said."

Isakson was taken to the State Police Troop F barracks in Westbrook to be processed and is due in court next month, according to NBC.

Troop F told Patch that DEEP is handling this investigation.
