PD: Killingworth Man Fires Shotgun on Pond Meadow Road During Dispute

The dispute began at the Cockaponset State Forest in Higganum.

State Police responded to a Pond Meadow Road, Killingworth residence at approximately 10:30 p.m. on December 10 for a dispute between two men. The dispute, according to police, was reportedly over money.

During a physical altercation at the Cockaponset State Forest in Higganum, 20-year-old Brian Thode of 168 Pond Meadow Road, Killingworth reportedly punched a male friend, age 19, in the face, causing him to have a bloody nose.

Thode then left the area and returned to his residence, according to police.

The victim then followed Thode back to the Pond Meadow Road address, where the dispute continued.

It was reported that Thode came outside and pointed a shotgun at the victim, allegedly threatening him and telling him to leave the property, as he fired the gun into the air.

Thode was arrested without incident and charged with unlawful discharge of a firearm, 3rd-degree assault, breach of peace and threatening. The shotgun was seized by police as evidence.

Thode was released on a $5,000 non-surety bond and scheduled to appear at Middlesex Superior Court in Middletown on 12/19/12.
