Killingworth Driver Distracted by Popsicle; Collides with Road Sign

A vehicle traveling north on the I-95 exit 57 off-ramp knocked over a state traffic commission sign after the driver was distracted by a popsicle and lost control of her car, according to the Troop F police report.

The following information was provided by the Troop F press log located at their barracks in Westbrook, CT.

According to a Troop F Accident Information Summary, on Monday, July 22, Jessica Rokles, 37, of 560 Route 81, Killingworth, was traveling north on the I-95 exit 57 off-ramp at approximately 7:45 PM. Officer Matthew M. Weber states in his report that Rokles "got distracted from a popsicle and lost control of her vehicle."

The vehicle went off the right shoulder and struck a STC sign, and the sign was knocked to the ground, police stated in the report. The car itself sustained "right front quarter panel damage."

A passenger in Rokles' vehicle was transported to Yale after a "complaint of leg pain," police say, by Guilford EMS. The vehicle was towed "from a private lot that it drove into," the report states.

Rokles was found at fault and issued an infraction for failure to maintain established lane, Police say.
