Higganum Man Pleads Not Guilty on Voyeurism Charges

Robert Cristian Rotaru, a Wesleyan student, appeared in Middletown Superior Court Wednesday, a day after police say he took photographs of a naked female student in a shower stall of a co-ed dorm.

 

The teen accused of snapping photographs of a Wesleyan co-ed while she showered in her dorm entered a not guilty plea on voyeurism charges in court Wednesday, according to the Middletown Press.

Robert Cristian Rotaru, 19, of Jackson Road, in the Higganum section of Haddam, appeared in Middletown Superior Court with his lawyer and parents. He's charged with voyeurism and voyeuristic recording of another person.

Rotaru, a Wesleyan University sophomore, told officers, the arrest report details, he had taken four pictures of the victim from under her shower stall, "two turned out to be his own hand and two were of her legs to about thigh level."

Rotaru was released on a $10,000 non-surety bond and is next due in court Oct. 22.
