The Connecticut State Police, Troop F, are investigating a burglary that occurred overnight on September 25 at approximately 2 a.m. at the Sunoco Gas Station at 1016 Killingworth Road in Higganum.
Two suspects reportedly cut alarm wires outside the business and forced their way into a side door where they proceeded to steal numerous cartons of cigarettes, according to police.
A similar burglary occurred at this same location back in August. Instead of cigarettes, a large sum of cash was stolen during the August break-in. On both occasions, access was gained into the business by forcing a side door open while the store was closed in the early morning hours.
During both burglaries, in-store video surveillance captured two white males wearing dark clothing with ski masks and dark gloves.
In this latest incident, one of the suspects was seen on surveillance wearing dark Nike gloves with the white colored Nike “swoosh” logo visible on the top of the gloves.
Seen on surveillance was a third suspect driving an older model sedan. This vehicle was also captured on video surveillance traveling along Killingworth Road (Rte. 81), dropping off the burglars and then picking them up afterwards.
The investigation is ongoing and any one with any information is being asked to contact the State Police at Troop F in Westbrook, 860-399-2100, or the Haddam Resident Trooper’s Office at 860-345-2769. You may remain anonymous when you call.
