The Haddam Volunteer Fire Company took part in the 7th annual Fight for Air Climb on April 5 at City Place in Hartford.

Having raised $3,185, the HVFCo. team was the top fire department and seventh overall fundraising team.

Proceeds benefit the American Lung Association.

The team ascended 34 floors (750 steps) wearing full gear and SCBAs.

The team — Dan Casey, Chet Crocco, Jeff Doskos, Mike Mancuso, Jed Morrissey, Robert Norton Jr., Jay Selmer and Kate Zarbo — was one of 17 fire department teams participating.

Firefighter Selmer had the fastest finish at 11:43:40, even more remarkable considering it was his THIRD climb of the day (second in full gear).
