Evading the Scene of an Accident, Burglary, Criminal Mischief and Motor-Vehicle vs.Tree

Haddam area police activity reports.

 

The Haddam Resident Troopers' Office and the Connecticut State Police, Troop F in Westbrook report the following incidents:

IMPROPER USE OF A MARKER PLATE, OPERATING WITH A SUSPENDED LICENSE, OPERATING AN UNREGISTERED MOTOR-VEHICLE AND OPERATING WITHOUT MINIMUM INSURANCE - On Jan. 18th, Matthew W. Rourke, 43, of Weiss Road, Haddam was observed by Middletown Police driving on Main Street in Middletown with a cracked windshield. He was charged with the above violations. Rourke was released on a promise to appear and given a court date of 1/25/12 at Middlesex Superior Court in Middletown.

BURGLARY AND CRIMINAL MISCHIEF - On Jan. 20th at approximately 12:31 a.m., State Police responded to the Great Hill Athletic Complex on Jail Hill Road in Haddam, after an alarm had been activated. Police said that a window had been pried open, but it appeared that no entry had been made and nothing was reported to have been taken. 

MOTOR-VEHICLE vs.TREE - On Jan. 20th at approximately 10:04 p.m., Peter Zahorodni, 23, of Burr Road, Higganum was traveling southbound on Saybrook Road in Haddam in a 1999 Honda Accord. Police said Zahorodni lost control of the vehicle and crossed over into the northbound lane, striking a tree on the opposite side of the roadway. Zahorodni was transported to Hartford Hospital for treatment of his injuries. The vehicle sustained heavy front-end damage and had to be towed from the scene.

BURGLARY - On Jan. 23rd at approximately 6:06 a.m., State Troopers from the Connecticut State Police, Troop F were called to a Burr Road, Higganum address for a reported burglary. No details are being released by police at this time and the case is under investigation.

EVADING THE SCENE OF AN ACCIDENT - On Jan. 23rd at 3:52 p.m., police were called to the Dunkin' Donuts store at 201 Saybrook Road in Higganum. A victim reported that their 2006 Mitsubishi Gallant that was parked in the lot between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. had been struck by another vehicle. Damage was caused to the front passenger door and the opposing vehicle left the scene. Anyone who may have witnessed this accident is asked to contact the Haddam Resident Troopers' Office at 860-345-2769 or the Connecticut State Police, Troop F at 860-399-2100.
