East Haddam Police Ask Assistance in Copper-Theft Incident; Threatening, DUI, and Violation of Probation

East Haddam area police activity reports.

 

The East Haddam Police and the Connecticut State Police, Troop K in Colchester report the following incidents:


FAILURE TO APPEAR IN COURT - On Feb. 14th at 6:30 p.m., Steven Downing, 31, of 21 Plains Road, Moodus was arrested and charged with the above. Downing was released on a $5,000 insured bond and scheduled to appear at Middlesex Superior Court in Middletown on 2/21/12.

VIOLATION OF PROBATION - On Feb. 17th at 11:50 a.m., Shaun Weeks, 27, of 253 Bushy Hill Road, Ivoryton was arrested pursuant to three separate warrants for violation of probation. Weeks was held on bonds totaling $30,000 and given a court date of 2/21/12 at Middlesex Superior Court.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUGS - On Feb. 18th at 3:58 a.m., Kurtis Goodspeed, 20, of 129 Parker Road, East Haddam was stopped by police on Old Hartford Road in Colchester and charged with DUI. Goodspeed was released on a $500 non-surety bond and is scheduled to appear at Norwich Superior Court on 3/6/12.

BURGLARY AND LARCENY - On Feb. 19th, East Haddam Police were dispatched to investigate the theft of copper piping that had been removed from a seasonal cottage on Laurel Lane, in the Lake Hayward section of East Haddam. The incident is reported to have occurred sometime after the first week in November, 2011. DISORDERLY CONDUCT, THREATENING AND VIOLATION OF PROBATION - On Feb. 20th at 1:00 p.m., John Belz, 48, of 173 Smith Road, East Haddam was arrested and charged with the above violations. Belz was released on a $1,500 cash bond and given a court date of 2/21/12 at Middlesex Superior Court in Middletown. 

MOTOR-VEHICLE vs. UTILITY POLE - On Feb. 24th at 7:06 a.m., Ryan Ressler, 23, of Alger Road, East Haddam was traveling westbound along Moodus-Leesville Road in Moodus, in a 1997 BMW. Ressler lost control of the vehicle on the snow-covered road, went off of the right-hand shoulder of the roadway and struck a utility pole. No injuries were reported by Ressler or his passengers.

MOTOR-VEHICLE vs.TREE - On Feb. 24th at 7:14 a.m., Katherine Glassman, 50, of Lake Shore Drive, Colchester was traveling northbound on Lake Shore Drive in East Haddam, in a 2004 Chevy Tahoe. Glassman lost control of the vehicle on the ice and snow-covered road and struck a tree. According to police, no injuries were reported.
