Drinking While Driving a Tractor, DUI's, Burglary, Larceny and Criminal Mischief

East Haddam area police activity reports.

 

The East Haddam Police and the Connecticut State Police, Troop K in Colchester report the following incidents:
  

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF - On Dec. 9, police were dispatched to a Dogwood Road, East Haddam residence. The homeowner stated that, sometime over the past week, damage was caused to a door frame that leads to an attached, secured utility closet on the premises. Damages are estimated to be approximately $100, police are investigating.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUGS AND MAKING AN IMPROPER TURN - On Dec. 9 at approximately 8:00 p.m., Eileen Powling, 52, of 74 North Moodus Road, Moodus was arrested and charged with the above, as a result of a motor-vehicle accident on Falls Road. Powling was released on a $500 non-surety bond and scheduled to appear at Middlesex Superior Court in Middletown on 1/4/12.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUGS - On Dec. 10 at 9:35 p.m., James Johnson, 46, of 121 Leesville Road, Moodus was arrested and charged with the above. Johnson was released on a $500 non-surety bond and given a court date of 12/19/11 at Middlesex Superior Court.

LARCENY - On Dec. 15, Trisha Bond, 22, of 31 Grist Mill Road, Moodus was arrested and charged with 5th-degree larceny. Bond was released on a $350 cash bond and scheduled to appear at Manchester Superior Court in Manchester on 12/16/11.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUGS, DRINKING WHILE DRIVING, OPERATING A MOTOR-VEHICLE WHILE A LICENSE IS REVOKED OR SUSPENDED AND OPERATING AN UNREGISTERED MOTOR-VEHICLE - On Dec. at 2:15 p.m., police observed an individual operating a Sears tractor along East Haddam-Colchester Turnpike in Moodus. James Brown, 52, of 155 Bashan Road, East Haddam subsequently failed standardized field sobriety tests and was arrested and charged with the above. Brown was processed at Troop K and released on a $500 non-surety bond and given a court date of 12/21/11 at Middlesex Superior Court.

THIRD-DEGREE BURGLARY AND THIRD-DEGREE LARCENY - On Dec. 16, Christopher Smith, 46, of 12 Southwinds Drive, Moodus was arrested related to the above charges. Smith was released on a $10,000 court-ordered bond, pending a court date of 1/13/12 at Middlesex Superior Court in Middletown.

MOTOR-VEHICLE vs. TREE - On Dec. 19 at approximately 3:33 p.m., Lauren Manuel, 17, of Forest Way, Colchester was traveling eastbound on Mount Parnassus Road in East Haddam in a 2000 Toyota Camry.  According to police, Manuel was attempting to make a left-hand turn onto Parker Road when she failed to negotiate the turn, striking a tree. No injuries were reported.
