State Police Issue Statement on Discovery of Robert Masci

Specialty K-9 teams located him just before 11 a.m. on Saturday.

According to a statement released by Connecticut State Police Saturday evening, state police K-9 teams found the body of Robert Masci in a wooded area off Deer Run Road in East Haddam just a couple of miles from his Boardman Road home at 10:56 a.m. Saturday.

Mr. Masci was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the statement. He was positively identified by family. 

The area where Mr. Masci was located was secured by state troopers and Major Crime Squad detectives who responded to the scene to conduct an investigation into this death, the release stated.  According to the preliminary information gathered by detectives, foul play is not suspected.

The state police Major Crime Squad and East Haddam's Resident Trooper are investigating Mr. Masci's passing, according to Lt. Paul Vance of the CT State Police Public Safety Division.

"The deceased will be transported to the Office of the Chief State’s Medical Examiner, where a post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the manner and cause of death."

The search for Mr. Masci began late Tuesday afternoon when his wife reported him missing after he didn't return home from a walk. Local and state rescue crews, the state DEEP, the Citizen’s Emergency Response Team (CERT), local officials and hundreds of volunteers aided in the four-day search for Masci.
