Copper Thefts from Radio Communications Towers, Impersonating a Police Officer and Refusal to Submit to Fingerprinting

Haddam area police activity reports.

 

The Haddam Resident Troopers' Office and the Connecticut State Police, Troop F in Westbrook report the following incidents:


DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUGS, SPEEDING AND FAILURE TO DRIVE IN THE ESTABLISHED LANE - On Jan. 2 at approximately 8:57 p.m., George Lincoln, Jr., 41 of 8 Race Lane, Ivoryton was arrested and charged with the above. Lincoln was processed at Troop F and later released on a $500 non-surety bond. He was given a court date of 1/13/12 at Middlesex Superior Court in Middletown.

IMPERSONATING A POLICE OFFICER - On Jan. 4 at approximately 6:21 p.m., State Police received a complaint from a woman reporting that she had been stopped on Interstate-95 northbound at exit 70 in Old Lyme, by an individual who was impersonating a police officer. The incident was reported to have occurred at approximately 1:05 p.m., and the perpetrator is described as a white male, wearing a police-style uniform with a patch of the United States Flag on his left shoulder. The vehicle is described as a dark blue Chrysler-300 with Connecticut plates. The complainant reported that the individual fled the scene when he observed her attempting to contact the police on her cellular phone. The case is under investigation, and anyone who may have witnessed anything or could have any information related to this incident is asked to contact Trooper Andrew Gwiazda at the Connecticut State Police, Troop F at 860-399-2100 or 1-800-256-5761.

INTERFERING WITH POLICE, FAILURE TO BRING A MOTOR-VEHICLE TO A STOP WHEN SIGNALED, INCREASING SPEED AND ATTEMPTING TO ESCAPE OR ELUDE AN OFFICER, OPERATING AN UNREGISTERED MOTOR-VEHICLE, FAILURE TO DRIVE UPON THE RIGHT AND REFUSAL TO SUBMIT TO FINGERPRINTING - On Jan. 4 at approximately 9:02 p.m., Walter Czaja, 84, of 24 High Street, Higganum was arrested and charged with the above. Czaja was taken into custody and later released on a $1,000 non-surety bond. He was scheduled to appear at Middlesex Superior Court in Middletown on 1/18/12.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUGS, OPERATING AN UNREGISTERED MOTOR VEHICLE AND POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA - On Jan.6 at approximately 10:00 p.m., Adam Michaelson, 28, of 1124 Hoop Pole Road, Guilford was arrested and charged with the above. Michaelson was released on a $500 non-surety bond and given a court date of 1/20/12 at Middlesex Superior Court.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF AND LARCENY FROM RADIO COMMUNICATIONS TOWERS - On Jan. 7 at 4:38 p.m., police received a complaint of missing copper grounding bars from a radio tower in Westbrook. The discovery was made during a routine maintenance check. Damages to related wiring on the tower was also caused as a result of this theft. It was later discovered that similar thefts and damages had occurred at additional towers located in Old Saybrook and Haddam. The incidents are under investigation.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT - On Jan. 7 at approximately 8:58 p.m., Jodi Gilbert-Ranney, 41, of 102 Crystal Lake Road, Middletown was arrested and charged with the above, following a domestic disturbance at Weiss Road in Haddam. Gilbert-Ranney was released on a $1,000 non-surety bond and scheduled to appear at Middlesex Superior Court in Middletown on 1/9/12.
