Car vs. Stone Wall, Two Injured in Head-on Collision

East Haddam Police Activity Reports, April 28 - May 6

The East Haddam Police and The Connecticut State Police, Troop K, report the following incidents:

TWO-CAR HEAD-ON COLLISION:  On April 28, at approximately 2:48 p.m., Cameron Mack, 22, of Wellington Way, Amston, was traveling northbound on Route 149, in a 1994 Nissan Sentra, attempting to negotiate a right-hand curve in the area of Moodus-Leesville Road in Moodus. Miriam Rowland, 61, of Neptune Avenue, Moodus, was driving a 2008 Toyota Prius and traveling southbound, when the vehicles collided. Both drivers were transported to Hartford Hospital with injuries. Both vehicles sustained heavy damage and had to be towed from the scene. The accident remains under investigation.

TWO-CAR MOTOR-VEHICLE ACCIDENT - On April 28, at approximately 3 p.m., Nicholas Grillo, 23, of Leesville Road, Moodus, was traveling along Route 32 in Windham in the area of Route 203, driving a 2010 Nissan Cube. Idelma Dossantos, 49, of School Street, Jewett City, was driving a 2010 Chrysler 300-Sedan, and stopped her vehicle, due to traffic conditions. While attempting to stop, Grillo's vehicle skidded on the wet roadway, passed Dossanto's vehicle on the left, and the vehicles collided. Police reported minor damage and no injuries.

LARCENY AT THE TRANSFER STATION - On April 29, police received a report from employees at the East Haddam Transfer Station regarding stolen items. The case is under investigation.

BURGLARY - On May 2, the East Haddam Resident Troopers' Office was called to investigate a burglary and attempted larceny into a residence on Heritage Brook Drive. Anyone with possible information is asked to contact TFC Rhoades at 860-537-7500, ext. 4016.

LARCENY FROM A MOTOR-VEHICLE - The East Haddam Resident Troopers' Office is investigating a theft from a motor vehicle on Heritage Brook Drive that was reported on May 2. Please contact the office at 860-873-1226 if you have any information.

BURGLARY AND LARCENY - On May 2, police were called to investigate an incident at a home under construction on Lakeside Drive in East Haddam. Numerous tools were stolen. If you have any information that could help this investigation, please contact TFC Rhoades at 860-537-7500, ext. 4016.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY - On May 4, State Police were called to investigate a burglary into the Fox Hopyard Golf Pro-Shop. Anyone with possible information is asked to contact Trooper Prescott at Troop K, at 860-537-7500, ext. 4071.

MOTOR-VEHICLE VS STONE WALL - On May 6, at approximately 3:15 p.m, Nicholas Peters, 25, of Bull Hill Road, Colchester, was traveling northbound on Falls-Bashan Road in Moodus in a 2002 Volkswagon Jetta, and reportedly swerved to avoid a small dog that was trying to cross the road, running his vehicle into a stone wall. The vehicle sustained minor front-end damage, and no injuries were reported. Peters was issued an infraction for making an unsafe turn and failure to carry a license.

LARCENY FROM A MOTOR-VEHICLE - On May 6, Cash and electronic devices were reported stolen from a car parked in a driveway on Mount Parnassus Road in East Haddam. Anyone with possible information that could help this investigation is asked to call Trooper McElroy at 860-537-7500, ext.4066.

Police at the Connecticut State Police Troop F Barracks in Westbrook report the following arrest:

Third-degree assault: A resident of a group home in Haddam was arrested by state police at the Troop F barracks in Westbrook on April 28 on charges he assaulted another resident in the home. Kevin Bombardier, 28, of 1179 Saybrook Road, was charged with breach of peace, third-degree assault and threatening, police said. He was released on a $2,500 non-surety bond and appeared in Middletown Superior Court on Wednesday.
